God's Servants At Fairgreen
In our October issue we are featuring Erika Dunn and she has shared with us about her life here at Fairgreen.
Erika was born and raised in Ulm, Germany, where she fell in love with a GI and later moved to the USA, where he resided. She has three children ages 33, 42 and 30 and a new granddaughter who was born in July, 2011. Erika’s marriage ended after 8 years and later lost her job as a receptionist. She said she found herself with no money, health insurance, or food. So Erika went to ―Care Net‖ to apply for health care and that’s when she met Karen Herren . Karen was able to help her and also suggest to Erika that her church has a food pantry and that she should go there for food assistance.
Erika was concerned about her future and so she came to Fairgreen’s Food Pantry. When she entered the church lounge the ladies greeted her with such love and joy, that Erika felt welcomed and right at home. Since that day Erika’s whole life has changed, as she experienced the love and caring of people and it was a happy place for her to come. Soon Erika began working in the food pantry and attending Fairgreen Presbyterian Church. She was so excited to be amongst people where she felt God’s love.
God took Erika on another journey, as she agreed to attend the Great Banquet weekend. The first three days she just absorbed everything that people were sharing. It was through the talks and the weekend that Erika gave her heart to the Lord and she realized that through the banquet the Holy Spirit was carrying her and filling her life. She never felt so more alive, which gave her a desire to get involved in the church. So she did by becoming a Deacon and continued working in the food pantry. Erika has developed some health issues and finds herself not able to do all that she did before. But with the support of her church family she feels Gods love and strength. Trusting in the Lord for a healing so that she can become active again. Erika continues to pray and trust in the Lord and she loves Fairgreen Presbyterian Church, as it is a ―Happy Place‖ to be.
